Thumbnails for Photoshop files in Windows

Everybody know that Windows use a default icon for PSD files, it is really disturbing when you have a lot of Photoshop files because you cant choice the one you like just looking at the thumbnails.

With this small file you will have customized thumbnail views of your Photoshop files.

Photoshop file format

Instrucctions to install :

  1. Download Psicon from HERE and unzip it with Winzip.
  2. Put the file psicon.dll in the folder (create it if it doesnt appear):
    ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell’.
  3. Double click on the other file into the zip: Photoshop_thumbnail.reg and accept.
  4. Then inside of any Windows folder just activate the thumbnail views.

PS: Registry Editing is a black art. Use this unders your responsability.

    Sí­, no depende de Photoshop sino más bien de la versión que tengas de Windows, posiblemente también funcione para Windows Vista.

    Por Lo Menos En Mi Win Vista Ultimate Usando PS CS3 No Funciona.
    Alguna Solución o Alternativa?

    Hola Gn0m3, estuve investigando un poco y esto es lo que me encontré:

    “Certain file types don’t appear in windows vista 64 bit’s explorer.

    Are there is no fix for this with vista 64 bit. The psicon.dll fix that works with the 32 bit version of windows doesn’t on the 64 bit one because psicon.dll is 32 bits.

    So right now there is no way to see thumbnails of PSD files (and AI files etc..) in vista 64 bit’s explorer…”

    Parece que no hay solución por ahora, investigaré a ver si hay algo.

    Bueno ya esta solucionado, aparentemente el problema fue con el .reg

    Hola Yeminius, lee mi comentario un par de entradas más arriba, parece que para 64 bits no funciona.

    Not sure what is the problem, it works for me for Photoshop CS3, just for Windows 32bits.

    Bueno por aqui juntaron los registros y las DLL y empaquetaron todo en un solo programita libre de virus ”¦practico..

    This worked great for me with Photoshop CS2. Clinton–I don’t think Illustrator creates previews in the same way and so this trick probably won’t work for you.
