3D Text Effect Tutorial for Photoshop CS

We start with a simple layer text in Photoshop CS. Make right click on the text layer and choice "Rasterize Layer" so you can modify later.

Ok, lets go with a gradient like this one. (I assume you know how to do selections).

Now duplicate the layer and move it down as far as you want and change the color of the whole text to a medium gray.

Notice I use the burn tool to make some shadows at the top of this second layer.

Now I used the dodge tool to make some highlights at the botton second layer.

Make a selection around this 2 text layers. (Shortcut: ctrl+click on the layer to select it and ctrl+shift+click on the other layer to add this layer to the selection.

Add a third layer and place it at the botton of the layers panel.

And make a black stroke (Edit>Stroke>choice centre) as bold as you want around the text.

Make a selection around the first layer.

Add a fourth layer and place it at the top of the layers panel.

And make a white stroke (Edit>Stroke>choice centre) as bold as you want around the text.

Now we did a selection of of the text and filled it with a light blue color. We put this layer in color mode to get a cooler look.

You can add some other brush effects... and its all.

Enjoy ;)
