ANOC World Beach Games
Qatar 2019 Sport Mascot Design
The 2019 World Beach Games commonly known as Qatar 2019 is an inaugural international beach multi-sport event organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees that holds between 11 and 16 October 2019 in Qatar. I worked in collaboration with JTA agency in the creation of Dolphy, the official sport mascot of the event.
Dolphy will be found swimming between the 14 different sporting events during the ANOC World Beach Games in Doha, providing boundless energy and optimism for both fans and athletes.
MEET DOLPHY
The fun-loving dolphin, was unveiled today by the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019 Organising Committee as the mascot for the inaugural edition of the global multi-sport Games.
Dolphy personifies the spirit of the ANOC World Beach Games with a playful disposition, a perpetual grin, and a dedication to keeping the ocean and the environment clean. A social animal by nature, Dolphy welcomes anybody and everybody looking for elite beach, water and action sports to the beautiful Qatari beaches and ocean.
ANOC confirmed sports
for 1st World Beach Games
The 2019 World Beach Games featured 14 disciplines in 13 sports.
All of events in this edition are different form the Summer Olympic program and equal in gender events.
3x3 Basketball
3x3 basketball competitions at the 2019 World Beach Games in Qatar are scheduled to be held from October 10 to October 13. A total of sixteen men's and sixteen women's teams (each consisting up to 4 athletes) competed in each tournament. This means a total of 128 athletes are scheduled to compete.
Karate Kata
Karate kata is a Japanese word describing detailed patterns of movements practiced either solo or in pairs. Karate kata are executed as a specified series of a variety of moves, with stepping and turning, while attempting to maintain perfect form.
Beach Tennis
Beach tennis is practiced in over 50 countries and there are more than half a million people all around the world playing it, having its greatest popularity in Italy, Brazil and Spain.
Surfing Long and Shortboard
Surfing is a surface water sport in which the wave rider, referred to as a surfer, rides on the forward or face of a moving wave, which usually carries the surfer towards the shore.
Beach Handball
Beach handball is a team sport where two teams pass and bounce or roll a ball, trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. Similar to team handball, but it is played on sand instead of in a sports hall; because the ball loses most of its bounce on sand, there is little to no dribbling, and players instead perform more passing as the rule of traveling still applies.
Beach Soccer
Beach Soccer, also known as beach football, sand football or beasal, is a variant of association football played on a beach or some form of sand. The irregularity of the soft-sand playing surface leads to a totally different style of play than is used in football, with a greater degree of improvisation.
Bouldering
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed on small rock formations or artificial rock walls, known as boulders, without the use of ropes or harnesses. Unlike free solo climbing, which is also performed without ropes, bouldering problems (the sequence of moves that a climber performs to complete the climb) are usually less than 6 meters (20 ft.) tall.
Aquathlon
The sport of aquathlon consists of a continuous, two-stage race involving swimming followed by running. Aquathlon in general follows triathlon distances, but there is variability. Mostly open-water but there are some pool-based sprints/super-sprints.
Kiteboarding
Kiteboarding is an action sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding and sailing into one extreme sport. Compared to the other sailing sports, kiteboarding is both among the less expensive (including equipment) and the more convenient. It is also unique in that it harvests the wind energy from a much larger atmosphere volume, comparing to sail size.
Park Skateboarding
Park skateboarding encompasses a variety of sub-styles adopted by those who ride skateboards in purpose-built skate parks. Most skate parks combine halfpipes and quarterpipes with various other ``vert`` skateboarding features as well as ``street`` obstacles such as stairs and rails. The integration of these elements produces a different skating experience.
Open Water Swimming
Open water swimming is a swimming discipline which takes place in outdoor bodies of water such as open oceans, lakes, and rivers. The activity has grown in popularity in recent years with the publication of bestselling books on ``wild swimming`` by authors such as Kate Rew and Daniel Start, and Waterlog by Roger Deakin.
4x4 Beach Volley
Beach volleyball is a team sport played on a sand court divided by a net. As in indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court, and to prevent the same effort by the opponent. A team is allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after making a block touch.
Waterski Jump
Water ski jumpers use two long skis to ride over a water ski jump in an attempt to travel the longest distance. In a tournament, skiers are given three attempts to hit the ramp. The winner is the skier who travels the farthest calculated distance and successfully rides away. There are no style points, simply distance.
Wakeboarding
The participant is towed on a small board riding a wake produced by the towing boat, and attempts to do tricks. Events are organized by the World Wakeboarding Association.`{`3`}` A special wakeboarding boat has a wakeboard tower, which places pull point higher above water's surface which makes it easier to jump. Wakeboarding boats have a ballast system that pumps water into tanks to increase displacement, and enlarge the wake.
Beach Wrestling
Beach wrestling is standing wrestling done by wrestlers, male or female, inside a sand-filled circle measuring 7 meters (23 ft) in diameter. The style originally mirrored the rules used before the use of wrestling mats, and beach wrestling has been regarded as the oldest version of international competitive wrestling.
